Plants make a home feel fresh and even help the air quality.
It’s fun looking at all of them at a greenhouse and a challenge to find one that will stay alive and look nice.
Plants give you a purpose.

You could make a vision board & print or cut out quotes that you like.
Or you could just buy a picture frame and place a quote in it.
If you have goals, put reminders of them around you.
I have a cork board that I use for quotes & other inspiring things.
I like reminders of the goals I set for myself.
I also track debt, credit cards & any financial goals.
Knowing that I get to go back and update it and see the progress motivates me to save more & spend less.

6 | Lovely Smells
Our sense of smell is the strongest of our 5 senses.
If there is a smell that reminds you of an amazing vacation you had, it triggers your brain and releases chemicals to make you feel good.
75% of all emotions generated every day are due to smell, and because of this, we are 100 times more likely to remember something we smell over something we see, hear or touch. Additional scent marketing research shows that there is a 40% improvement in mood after being exposed to pleasant scents. Source
Sprinkle some touches into your home or bedroom that spark your sense of smell.
Spray something on your bed sheets, get a new candle, or use a diffuser.

7 | Improve Functionality
Is your at home desk chair garbage?
Maybe a step stool would make life easier?
Your home should be comfortable and relaxing, not aggravating.
Pay attention to what annoys you in your house & consider changing it.
Hanging Spice Rack
Each time I needed a spice I was getting the stool out to get to the top cupboard, to go through what seemed like 100 of them, then dropped 3, and spilled one, then realized I had 3 of the same spice and 0 of the one I need.
It made cooking miserable.
Having a rack to be able to see them and REACH them is much easier, plus they look cute and clean.
8 | Make it Safe
Especially if you have kids.
It’s overwhelming to constantly be worried about kids getting into things or doing stuff that could hurt themselves.
It’s worth investing in some childproofing.
Aside from kids…
Do all your exterior doors lock? How about windows? Do they all have screens?
Some things that made my house feel way safer;
- Being able to lock the slider door
- Outside motion light
- Sealing places hornets and wasps kept flying in
- A lock for the shed
- Fixing the driveway
I’ve had to take my vehicle to be repaired twice because of my driveway.
It was a stressor to think about who was coming over, what they drove, warn them of the nightmare they would be driving into.
The post office refused delivering to my home and I became known as the “driveway girl”.
Then I had to go to post office every time I ordered something from Amazon.
Honestly, no thanks.
I’m sure not everyone has a driveway as bad as mine but if you have something that is causing repeated stress or is a safety concern, it’s worth investing into eliminating the headache.
