Category is: Urophilia Disorder, also known as piss play, watersports or the watersports kink.
Urophilia disorder is a type of paraphilia. Paraphilia is just a broad term for any “unusual” sexual desire. Some of the more common ones we hear about are pedophilia (sexual feelings towards children) and necrophilia (sexual feelings towards corpses).
Having sex with corpses & children is pretty offensive in most cultures but peeing on others is surprisingly common, yet annoyingly secretive.
Urophilia Disorder Definition:
To derive sexual gratification from the smell, sight and even consumption of urine of the sexual partner.
It seems like men get associated with urophilia disorder more often than women, but in a lot of cultures men are much more empowered to talk about sex, so who really knows which sex has more interest..
If it is just boys maybe it really is this simple;
“Men have fun urinating from day 1 when that little thing squirts you in the eye when you take his nappy off.”
But, for the sake of curiosity I’m going to explore it a little more.
Plenty of people have “normal” and “abnormal” sexual desires; but normal or not, they’re usually driven by a desire for one of these ↓
- Control
- Affection
- Attention
- Freedom of Expression
- Approval
- Attachment
In our everyday lives we may find ourselves yearning for these repeatedly or maybe as a child we didn’t get enough of them.
Even just one really shitty OR really good experience can leave lasting impacts on how we perceive these needs.
Sex is a form of intimacy, some might argue the ultimate form of intimacy. So, it makes sense that these desires manifest within the context of sex.
With consideration of those needs,
Here are 6 reasons why someone might take an interested in “watersports” or urophilia disorder.
1 | It’s Unconditional Love
Someone’s pee is fairly personal, and when you share personal things with a partner, it’s viewed as a form of intimacy.
Asking someone to bring urine into their sex life tests the partners’ loyalty & devotion.
Going back to those human needs; having permission to pee on someone/being peed on by another, could certainly be symbolic for approval.
“Love is sharing your
popcornpiss.”Charles Schultz
2 | It’s Naughty
Another appeal is that it’s seen as taboo & that in itself can be pretty arousing to some (without actually putting anyone at risk).
I personally think the taboo aspect of urophilia disorder is just a piece of the bigger picture, which leads me to…
3 | Erotic Shame
It’s not that uncommon.
“You dirty slut.” ← Being called a slut is usually pretty offensive. But, the person name-calling is being VERY accepting of this derogatory term.
Peeing or spitting on someone is another way of using shame as a source of eroticism.
Havelock Ellis, a doctor who researched this topic & enjoyed it himself, had a lot of things to say about it so I’m going to reference back to him when I can.

The man whose predominant impulse is to subjugate himself to his mistress and to receive at her hands the utmost humiliation, frequently finds the climax of his gratification in being urinated on by her, whether in actual fact or only in imagination.
Havelock Ellis
It might be confusing that shame can empower and even turn someone on, but degradation play is usually doing the opposite.
Turning shame into something erotic takes two people willing to trust each other & together they challenge feelings of inadequacy by making them erotic.
Shame is powerful & often asks to be hidden, but if your partner is outwardly shaming you & is aroused by it; that’s pretty accepting.
One could argue that control is the underlying theme.
The act becomes desirable because it is the outward and visible sign of an inwardly experienced abject slavery to an adored person.
Havelock Ellis
4 | Power
Peeing on someone puts you in a position of domination and places the other in a submissive role. So, pee play could easily be another way to play with power.
There are a lot of stories & folklore that depict women as goddesses, with the ability to enslave men. It isn’t uncommon that those stories include urinating.
It’s usually described in a way that raises the status or power of the goddess & at the same time exemplifies the devotion to submission by the one enslaved.
Let us not forget that dogs piss on things to “mark their territory” & some claim that the act is simply a primitive form of dominance.
5 | It Symbolizes Sex
When it really comes down to it, urine isn’t that far off from semen or the fluid that women produce when they are turned on.
Don’t get me wrong, each of those fluids are different from the next BUT,
All of it is fluid and it all comes from genitals.. Urine has been associated with sex for a long time.
It is also desirable because of intimately sexual associations in the act itself, as a symbolical detumescence, a simulacrum of the sexual act, and one which proceeds from the sexual focus itself.
Havelock Ellis
Sometimes pee play is peeing in front of someone, sometimes it’s peeing on their chest or on their face and sometimes it’s actually drinking it.
6 | Drinking Urine
When it comes to drinking urine… is it just pushing urophilia disorder to an even more intimate level or something entirely different?
I was reading through Havelock’s document and learned that some people enjoy how it makes them feel. Urine is known to have properties of a stimulant.
In many places urine is even drank as a cure for diseases.
BUT, all the instances I read about drinking pee (erotically) have nothing to do with the properties of urine, instead they revolve around what is symbolizes.
Here are some examples
A 27 year old man once saw a woman urinating & experienced voluptuous sensations. From that moment, he sought out women urinating, the maximum of gratification being reached when he could put himself in such a position that a woman, in all innocence, would urinate into his mouth. All his sex adventures were concerned with the search for opportunities for this difficult gratification.
Archives d’Anthropologie Criminelle, November, 1900
A different guy masturbated up to the age of 16, then he abandoned the practice, and up until the age of 30 found complete satisfaction in drinking the still hot urine of women; overcome by extreme excitement & experiencing spontaneous ejaculation.
The younger the woman, the greater the experience. There was no sensory perversion and no attraction to the taste or smell; he said his senses were suspended by his excitement, making him unable to perceive the odor or taste of the fluid.

Further supporting that the urine kink doesn’t seem to have much to do with the urine itself …
While we don’t completely understand urophilia disorder, it’s obviously not new.
Some Watersports History
Havelock Ellis, who I mentioned above is a pretty important person in watersports kink history. He was able to connect the folklore of pee play into modern day.
He was impotent until age 60, when he realized he became excited by women urinating.
He gave an explanation to many people who wondered why they have an interest in it and humanized it. His respect and curiosity towards the topic made the not-so-uncommon taboo of peeing on people much more commonly admitted & accepted.
Another person you might have heard of is Ricky Martin. During an interview he said he liked giving people “golden showers” or “yellow rainbows”.
Here are his words
“I love giving the golden shower. I’ve done it before in the shower. It’s like so sexy, you know, the temperature of your body and the shower water is very different.”
Another notable person, Donald Trump supposedly has a recording (including himself) with two prostitutes pissing on a bed in the white house… The one Obama & Michele slept on?
If you’re curious here’s a quick video about it.
I’m sure there are plenty other people so if you know of someone else or have your own story, please share!
Friendly Reminder:
Just want to point out that many of the people I mentioned discovered their love for piss play by accident.
& in writing this I’ve learned it’s much more common than what I had thought.
Here are some stories about people discovering their pee fetish below.

Maybe you’ve already had an experience with watersports…
Or maybe the person you marry will be into it…
Or maybe the person you’re ALREADY MARRIED TO is into it but they’re too embarrassed to tell you!
so don’t knock it until you try it.
& if you’re just getting started
Here are some tips for the watersports kink;
- Try it in the shower or tub (helps bridge the gap & is less messy.)
- Purchase waterproof sheets or a mattress cover to protect your furniture.
- Be hydrated
- Avoid coffee leading up to it
- & asparagus
- Try diet sodas; the artificial sweetener makes your pee sweeter.
